Description: Hi All, I Just bought cricket stumps from Bhavani on 19 Mar 2011.I just played two matches on the third match the stumps got broken.We played with a tennis ball for that itself the stumps are unable to withstand it is of very very poor quality but they charged 25$ which is not even worth of 2$. When i asked for refund or replacement they are denying and there customer response was also in a harsh manner.

Description: I have recently booked air ticket to India through CITIAIR, to visit my sick mother as a emergency trip. They told the tickets are confirmed, please pay for the ticket. I paid and got the itenary and believed and peacefully waited for the date to travel. As usual the day before I just want to reconfirm the ticket and called the airlines. They took my booking code, last name and date of travel to check my itenary. To their surprise there is no booking shown in the system. I am really surprised and since I had the hard copy of the booking, I requested to verify. After 30 minutes of checking and verifying they told the booking has been cancelled a week back. I had packed everything and waited for the travel, now the airline is telling my booking is cancelled. so am totally upset and called the travel agent. They didn't even know the ticket is cancelled and told me that we don't know you have to check with airline. With all the disappointment and worry, I called the airlines again and conference with citiair. Finally found citiair didn�??t confirm my ticket with airlines. CITIair travel agent did nothing to solve the issue. I had to convince the airlines, that there were some communication gaps and requested to get the new ticket. So be careful if you book tickets with citiair. This is my kind advice to any one who is looking for air tickets. ---Horrible travel agent ever I saw in my 15 year life time of my numerous travels....be careful while booking tickets with citiair-------------

I would strongly suggest Patel Brothers because of the friendly, wonderful service they provide. The rates are cheap and food is quality based. Bhavani is not as popular as Patel Brothers, they are new in the market. There service is okay, not the best and they close early. I used to shop at India Grocers, but face it compared to Patel and Bhavani...they are not that great. Anyways just posting what I think, Thank you Patel Brothers :D

It started on Dec 19th, but we have not gotten the flyer, so was not aware of it. They are sending flyer to only people that signup for their email list. So go and get the deal if you are visiting that area and looking to buy Indian groceries.

So check expiration dates on the products that you are buying. I am not OK with buying expired products for my own health. In my own experience, some of the items that dont have expiration date have fungus in them once the pack was opened. NOT THE BEST DEAL FOR GOOD HEALTH!

One thing I'll agree about Indian grocery store is everyone has been affected may be in positive or negative after having BHavani and New Patel in town. Someone was saying/asking to sympathize for small Indian grocery stores. I do not agree on this because they had the monopoly in the town for quite a long period of time. It's for our goodness we finally have some place where in we get benefited as well. I live in Michigan and have my husband shop the grocery from columbus and get me here. Reason is quality and price of course. Here in lansing,MI we have 2 indian stores they sell expired,expensive, rotten crap. Still if you dont have any other option then you'll have to buy from these small stores. At one point of time I'd stopped visitng indian store and started managing with whatever I get from Meijer/Kroger/Chinese Store. Anyways these people have alredy made enough money from us. I wish if we can have a store like bhavani/patel at our place. New Patel and BHavani you rock guys!!! Give each other tough competition and give us better deals. So you do your business and we get our stuff at reasonable rate. Hence we all are happy.

Description: Columbus is a small town with a small Indian population. For the last two decades it has been well served by about 10 Indian Grocery Stores. These stores are family owned businesses that have devoted their time and catered to the local community that they know well. In February 2009, amidst the worst economy that this country has faced in nearly seventy years, Bhavani, an East Coast Grocery chain has entered the small Columbus market with a large store opened in Dublin off Saw Mill Rd. From the start this store has sold products at or below cost to attract customers and in its own words to hurt the "greedy older stores". As a result three stores in the Saw Mill Rd area have shut down within a couple of months after Bhavani opened. Just last week it is reported that a fourth store is about to close down. To fight Bhavani, Patel Bros. that is a nationally owned store chain of Raja Foods of Chicago,and whose Kenny Rd store was losing business to Bhavani, have opened a larger store in the same vicinity as Bhavani, in Dublin. Both are rivals and are fighting with each other in many towns and cities having private wars, SELLING PRODUCTS AT A LOSS AND HURTING OTHER BUSINESSES IN THE PROCESS. These tactics are affecting the businesses of the smaller family owned stores in Columbus who really cannot afford to sell their products at a loss. FURTHER, THE INDIAN POPULATION IN COLUMBUS CANNOT SUPPORT THESE TWO LARGE STORES AS WELL AS THE OLDER STORES. These two large stores do not need the money nor the business and THE EDUCATED INDIAN CUSTOMER SHOULD UNDERSTAND THIS AND CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THEIR LONG TIME NEIGHBORHOOD SOTRES IF THEY WANT THESE STORES TO CONTINUE TO BE AROUND.

I have great respect from neighbors, have made many new american friends, Have been invited into many of their homes and have had them in mine.have respect from employer, and co-workers, have never been treated un- fairly, but had to adapt and change to new way of life. indian beliefs are in my heart, but now in america, so live like an american. respect america, gave up unhealthy indian food, eat plenty of other vegetables like okra, brussel sprouts, corn, peas, other indian need to think out of the box, all indian need to change and accept american life and quit holding onto old ways. some indian men where i work only associate themselves with other indian men and women, this is wrong to do, make new american friends, associate with american people, your life is much easier and you will be accepted very nicely.

Description: Shop at Aldi if you need cheap bread. Look at the flyers in the bag that you get over the weekend to get deals on milk, eggs etc, usually Walmart is the place for cheaper groceries, but sometimes Meijer and Kroger beat it. Prior to Bhavani and Patel, directgrocerydelivery.com was giving good deals and deliver groceries at your home, but their prices now can't beat the sale prices in both of these stores. Eventhough we are living in America, our body is made in India, so it still need major part of food from India. I tried to use rice from Sams club when there was rice shortage due to banned rice export from India, but it was hard to digest. I can't eat animals like pigs and cows (being vegetarian), so mostly dependent upon basmati rice, vegetables(that are not available in Meijer eg tindora, dudhi, karela etc) and Dal's for protein from Indian store.

I know of few people that drive an extra mile looking at columbusgasprices.com to find cheap gas and encourage the store that sells gas for few cents less, so that the store can increase volume of sale and continue offering low price. Description: Yes. You are right. Patel Brothers xmas sale is limited to certain stores outside of Columbus. However, when I visited the Sawmill Rd store, displayed prices are matching with the flyer. Better to check with them to see if they match the price with flyer, otherwise wait until Bhavani's annual sale in Feb 2010 (I am hoping that they will celebrate 1st anniversary with a bumper sale). I have enough stock of items from recent sales to go through May of next year, so no worries for me, I just need vegetables at 49 cents until then :)

Some got raised to 99 cents after opening sale. So visit them before visiting Bhavani. I see that the vegetables are very fresh at Patel than Bhavani. Let me put in other way, when there is no sale go and shop in your local Indian store to keep them in existence (atleast buy vegetables from them). In corporate America, big fish eats small fish. Let us hope that these two giants will not eat all the small stores that served us in the past few decades. The one who posted comments about free vegetables, sorry dude you are living in wrong place. This is not Arizona, Florida or Texas to grow vegetables in your backyard for free. Description: We didn't know that Bhavani has the same deal as Patel Brothers in Sawmill Rd. We got the flyer from Patel about the deal from 11/21 through 11/30 and no flyer from Bhavani, so went to new Patel Brothers store today and spent around $300. Bhavani need to be proactive in communicating with customers by sending either emails or flyers or both when there are deals/sale. Today Patel Brothers looked like Best Buy on day after thanksgiving with 4 lanes each taking 2-3 hours. Way to go for both Patel and Bhavani in meeting Columbus Indian customer needs at excellent prices. This is the kind of competition we awaited for over 2 decades. We even had to go to Chicago in 1989 to find better deals in Devon St once a month with car pooling.

They had a good crowd.We went at aroung 1 and the reception said to wait fr out table.He was saying 5 min everythime we see him and it took almost 40 min to seat us. They had a lot of free tables without people but not cleaned. I think he should be able to clean the table to seat his guests ASAP if available. Description: Seeing all the cheap prices for eye brows threading and facial etc, I went in to one of the places and was disgusted. I had allergies on my skin due to facial (some cheap cream) and eyebrows were not done properly. Even if somebody offered me free, I would not go for it. Better get done from someone who you are familiar with or dont do it. Dont try to save couple of dollars - not worth it. Girls who do this on H4 visas can create problems for themselves.

Description: These two unethical stores have the power of money. They are fighting with each other and in that they are spending and losing money since they sell lot of product at loss. New York. New Jersey, Chicago stores do not incur additional trasportation costs that the Mid West stores do. In fact Columbus stores have provided great service to the residents in Ohio serving them for so many years before these monied giants have encroached this territory. A small territory like Columbus does not have the population of Indians required to support these large stores.But these two vultures don't care what damage they do to others. I feel that the Indian community that considers itself educated should understand this and the fact that after all shopping at their local store will make a difference of not more than a few dollars a month. Besides this it is indeed shameful that I as a shopper should go to my local store for emergencies and convenience only and go to Bhavani or Patel for most of my shopping. That is why I go to my local store and will continue to do so. I urge others to do that too. As for forming an alliance among smaller stores, I dont know how that can be done since they are all located in different parts of the city and they all have their different suppliers and varieties. In fact all the smaller stores have established themselves with thought and the idea not to encroach on markets developed in the neighborhoods by the different store owners except for one or two. WHEREAS BOTH PATEL AND BHAVANI HAVE MADE IT A PRACTICE TO OPEN STORES IN MARKETS DEVELOPED BY OTHER SMALLER STORES AND PUSH THESE SMALL STORES OUT OF THE MARKET WITH THEIR MONEY AND NOT MUCH ELSE. DEIFINITELY NOT BRAINS. It is time for the Indian community in Columbus to do the right thing.

Description: I didn't know about re-packaging, because I am a customer and don't know how/what they do it internally. I only look at the dates on packaging, quality of stuff inside and cost. My suggestion to all the owners of other grocery stores is to think of ways on how to compete with Bhavani and Patel. In the current economic conditions lowest price is what does it matter to most of the Indians (except some professions that are cash cows eg: doctors, business owners etc). Look at the sales and crowd when Bhavani opened the store in Columbus. It is due to lowest price and good quality (ofcourse no one will buy if there are insects in the packaging). Owners of all the small stores effected by these two giants can form a syndicate and try to compete with them might work. Look at places like Dallas and Chicago. There are other stores that are doing very well, infact in Dallas, Patel brothers doesn't have much business compared to Sabji Mandi. I believe in unity is the strength. Try to bring Indian grocery prices in Columbus to the similar level from Chicago, New Jersey and Dallas.

Description: Patel Brothers opened a new store in Sawmill road in addition to the one in Kenny Rd. They currently have Diwali sale going on. So visit them and Bhavani before going to any other store. Bhavani and Patel Brothers are big and do their own import and have their own brand, so their prices are lot less compared to the small stores in town who depend on importers (+ add their profit margin). I also see that Patel and Bhavani's stock is fresh (look at the mfg and expiry date). Go to Ideal super market (5219 Godown Rd. phone: 457-9999) on Sunday around 3pm to get fresh vegetables at a reasonable price. If you go after 5 or 6pm, there won't be much stuff left (NOTE: I am a consumer like you and not a promoter for any of these stores. This feedback is from my own shopping experience in town)

Also, whenever I call the temple to check the next program, the first question I am asked is "Are you a member of the temple?" .. I say no and he does not answer any questions I ask. I understand the temple (like any religious org.) needs money for their infrastructure...but why such bias for members/non members. Both parties should do a little research. Sitters should work out their costs depending on responsibilities and commute (not charge frivolously), while families should be reasonable with pay and not expect more for less pay.

It appears to me that people make insulting comments about businesses owned by hardworking Indians in various fields. Description: this site is good esp the post your experience. I really loved it. it gives a detailed view about the city aspects. The biggest draw back here is there is not way to search for something like if you want to search by the city or any criteria ,you cannot. thats a great drawback.

Description: New Grocery store Near Polaris The Bombay Bazaar, Some improvement suggestions, the store looks good as long as the groceries are concerned. The store owner I guess has forgotton to put price labels on the items.It takes awfully long for the store keeper "to look at every single item and then look for the price in a poorly maintained Notebook (register)!". Please install the barcode system or at least put the price lables, so that people would get to know the price of items they are buying and the store keeper would also be at ease at the check out counter. The first day we collected the groceries we needed and after waiting for 15-20 mins in the "line", we put back everything we gathered on the respective shelves and went our way!

We have so many Indian restaurants in this country, I might have been to a small no of them but always I have noticed that when there is an Indain customer and an Amrican arrive at the same time, lot of hospitality is shown to the latter one (Indians are put on hold.......or just ignored), why? just because we are taken for granted for the skin color and our origin!! Indian host really tries to ingnore the fact that we are also a custmor and can affect the profits he makes.........

Description: If u plan to move into Polaris crossing apartments on the intersection of lazelle rd and sancus blvd(beside marathon gas station) I suggest u don't give them your credit card as it gets charged automatically when u have to pay some fines.They charge for every damn thing u call them for, it could be fixing the blinds,clogged water,AC repair,fixing your stove-top burners if they are not lighting-up well,water leakage from the drain,wet walls due to additional moisture in the air etc,etc,etc there's a no ending list.And the time u move out u are sure to get a bill for painting(doesn't matter if u have painted them before u moved out) for kitchen odors(b'coz u cook)carpet(b'coz u walk),for not cleaning the windows (b'coz we open them for fresh air)and many many more.....they don't clean the snow nor do they do anything for the icy roads...no salt trucks come inside the apartment complex. There were at-least 6 burglary's in the neibourhood in the recent months in which there were all electronics which were stolen and a few car stereos gone from the cars.Do think twice before u move in. There are lot of other things not mentioned and which u wouldn't want to know.

Description: This is really a horrifying experience when I went to the newly opened restaurant Andhra Spice, the impression that I had towards this restaurant is completely vanished as the hospitality is really bad. I was very impressed with the hospitality and the food that they have served me last time. But this time when I took my American friend to the restaurant, the hospitality was horrible and the person over there doesn�t understand what we need and his way of answering the questions is very much annoyed in spite of knowing that we are Americans. I strongly recommend all the people not to go to that restaurant with any of your friends as the experience will make u feel worse and will make fool out of yourself.

Description: Was at India corner the other day. The place was deserted. The owner as usual was lost. He comes up to me with a "Yes ?". The food was horrible. The potato curry in the masala dosa was stale and old. Heard from a friend that it is up for sale/sold. It has had so many false starts and it still sucks. The uber parent Dosa corner's quality is down the hill as well. It is sad that desi restaurants lack the basics of restaurant management. They expect to treat patrons like they are doing them a favor, hospitality is out right missing and the food is stale. I cannot fathom how the owner musters enough courage to put that damn stale thing on a plate and serve it up...

Description: We had Birthday Party from our colleague and we went to Bay Leaf to have Indian Food. We went to enjoy the treat (Dinner) but it turnout to be horrible experience. It is well arranged restaurant from the outside but it is completely bad in hospitality. We were nine people and whole restaurant was empty but still it took them two hours to serve us with cold food. In addition to this, we had two stones in rice. Chicken biryani was pathetic. we assumed that it was their closing time so we were served whatever they had. When we complained, we got an answer that it happens sometimes in rice. We could have accepted it but the way it was being defended was really bad and it reached to level of confrontation. The situation could have been handled properly but it become worst when customer was scolded instead of accepting the fault. We were really pissed off. We can not recommend to people.

Description: We recently have been to Indian Oven which is located on Main Street in Downtown. The ambiance of the place is so nice. We don't see such hospitality in all Indian restaurants. The food was amazing. We liked the food better than many other Indian restaurants in town. It is expensive though. It is definitely worth trying once.

Description: Friends be careful when u do a balance transfer with 0% APR, don't do any purchases with that card. Here is why, if u do purchases with it and you make the payment at the end of each billing cycle, the payment will be applied towards the balance transfer and not TOWARDS THE PURCHASE, and your purchase will accumlate and you will be charged huge finance charges may be 20% apr. So technically there is no 0% APR. So be careful while you are doing balance transfer do not use that card for purchases at all. I had this experience with Discover card, and paid $300, in three mnths.

Description: I was looking for a Camera in office max store at dublin, next to the best buy one. And they did not had that piece and said they will order it online and I will get it in two days. To my surprise I did not get it even after one week, and so I called them and asked what is happening, they said it will reach to me on the day I am leaving for Vacation, which is 10 days from the day I was in store. Now they neither cancel the shippment or return my money, or they ship from other stores around. Basically they did not show any interest on helping me, but left me on my fate. So please people becareful they don't have a better system to tell you when u will get it. So SHOPPERS BECARE FULL WHILE SHOPPING AT OFFICEMAX, is my long story short. Thanks SKV
